My Philosophy
Hi, my name is Michelle. I am a teacher. I am a leader. I am a friend. I am an advocate. I am a superhero. “With great power comes great responsibility” is a fitting description for what I do. I shape and mold the minds of our youth. I care for and nurture our tiniest societal beings. I hold the future in my hands for a few short years. What I do with them matters. I lay the foundation for building who will one day be a president, astronaut, doctor, athlete, lawyer, etc. An Early Childhood Educator is the most important job in the world.
I teach the skills that help our youth read and write, but just as important, I show them how to make new friends, adjust to new surroundings, and control emotions. I teach independence, such as putting on clothes, cooking food, potty training, and tying shoes. I also teach the importance of our environment and learning to care for it, how to recycle, all about animals, and how to plant and grow foods. I expose the children to different cultures through language, dance, music, and foods. I teach the children that differences are beautiful and the most beautiful thing they can wear is confidence. I believe that all of this is essential to the well being of our children.
These lessons are taught through play. Using dramatic play, music and movement, reading, art, indoor/outdoor play, and science and technology, I am able to reassure our parents that the children are getting the best of the best as far as education goes. Our classroom rules help to keep our children safe and allow for our teachers to keep a close eye on everything that is going on in our classroom. I also believe in positive reinforcement. I believe in acknowledging our children's successes, but also, using our “setbacks” as learning moments. It's all great and necessary to learn and grow in life.
Children learn best in love. Therefore, in all that I do, it starts with love. When you create an environment where children are comfortable enough to make mistakes, real learning can begin. I read, “Mistakes are stepping stones to moving outside the comfort zone and into the growing zone.” Here is where new discoveries can be made and great lessons can be learned. Here is where our future is developed and wow, it looks like it's going to be bright.
Our mission is to foster a love of learning in your little ones, through creative lesson plans and prompts.
“A creative education has the power to catapult children into a lifetime of curiosity.”
